eCast Available From WeatherBug®

Weather forecasts can be tough to digest and analyze. In addition, subjective statements like “moderate confidence” add no value to your task. Are you looking for a better way to gauge the uncertainty in the forecasts and make a move at the most opportune time? Are you looking for forecasts that reach out to 15-days? Are you looking for forecasts that communicate not just the uncertainty, but also the certainty in the forecast?

If so, then you need eCast, a 10-day ensemble forecast tool. eCast was developed by a valued WeatherBug partner, AER, Inc. Based in Lexington, Massachusetts, AER is an atmospheric research entity that works collaboratively with NOAA, NASA and other government agencies. With over 40 PhDs on staff, best of breed solutions are born within their walls everyday.

eCast is a powerful, web-based 15-day forecast product designed to provide probabilistic forecasts out to 15 days. This tool delivers the power of over 3,000 forecasts per city to your desktop daily, in an intuitive, easy to understand format. For the first time, weather analysts can efficiently access the powerful information from 51 forecast members producing two forecasts per day out to ten days, generated at the world-renowned European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasts in the UK. We also provide you with our bias corrected 0-15 day GFS forecasts and its 12 forecast members. eCast’s value is derived from proprietary software techniques developed by WeatherBug’s partner, AER, to quality check, calibrate, statistically interpret, and process the volumes of both ECMWF and GFS forecast data into meaningful local city forecasts and timescales, with probabilistic forecast ranges and visualizations. Confusingly similar, yet subtly different outputs are transformed into valuable information that can be used to determine the most likely ranges for maximum and minimum temperatures, as well as the probability of precipitation over the next 15-days.

eCast currently generates point forecasts for 130+ US cities and over 40 European cities. We have the ability to add additional cities if required for your business needs.
